Song (language arts, music, drama)
Students will write and perform an original song about a significant historical event in Sir John's life. A familiar tune that students already know or for which they can access musical accompaniment should be selected. The song could give details of an event (rock or rap) or lament a particular decision or issue (country or blues).
Students will tell Sir John's story by writing a musical. This can be a play with popular songs selected to tell part of the story, or lyrics from different songs can be re-written to tell his story. The songs can be integrated with regular speaking lines. Students may wish to use examples from Mike Ford's Canada Needs You album ("Sir John A.-You're O.K.") or from local artists.
