At that time, there was no way to reproduce photographs in publications __ photography itself was a very recent technique. To illustrate texts, artists made engravings or drawings from photographs. Drawings from photographs by Miot were published in Le Monde Illustré, L'Illustration, Journal Universel and Le Tour du Monde.
