Outmanoeuvring the Enemy

The prime minister and his staff try to devise ways to deflect criticism and halt the obstructions of the opposition. From 1963 to 1967, with Pearson as prime minister, and Diefenbaker, leader of the opposition, the two continued to do battle. One of their fiercest confrontations occurred over a new Canadian flag in 1964.
