Behind Every Successful Man...

Most prime ministers have been married. John A. Macdonald, Alexander Mackenzie and John Diefenbaker married a second time after the deaths of their first wives. The most enduring marriage was that of Charles and Frances Tupper which lasted 66 years. Pierre Trudeau is the only leader who married in office. Like many other Canadians, two of our recent prime ministers have been divorced (Trudeau and Campbell). Mackenzie King and Bennett never married.
