The House of Commons collection also includes busts of prime ministers, and Parliament Hill features bronze statues of many of our leaders. Sculptors competing for such commissions submit designs in the form of plaster maquettes. The difficulty of creating portrait sculpture without a live model prompted one sculptor to remark, "Any Canadian who is in the least danger of becoming celebrated should be photographed from behind as well as from in front."
