Biographical sketch
Executive producer, consultant (Dave Bird Sound Productions) and financial planner, he directed the radio series Jazz Radio-Canada and the The Jazz Players with his wife Mary Nelson. 

Scope and content
The fond consists of records pertaining to the professional career of Dave Bird:  sound recordings, chiefly of the radio series Jazz Radio-Canada and The Jazz Players.  The sound recordings feature musical works and interviews with artists such as Tommy Banks, Ed Bickert, Don Thompson, Art Ellefson, Moe Koffman and Phil Nimmons. 

Immediate source of acquisition:  acquired from Dave Bird in 1991.
