Administrative history
The Canadian Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (formerly the Canadian Association of Music Libraries) is the Canadian representative of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres.  In 1971 it succeeded the Canadian Music Library Association, founded in 1956 and then a section of the Canadian Library Association.  The Association promotes the growth of music libraries, implements or participates in the development of projects concerning music resources, and encourages interlibrary cooperation. 

Scope and content
The fonds consists of records pertaining to the Association's activities between 1972 and 1985:  minutes of meetings of the board of directors and of annual meetings; general correspondence; members' files; promotional material; drafts of  texts; correspondence and other documents pertaining to publications; membership lists; recordings of workshops. 

Immediate source of acquisition:  acquired from the Association in several accessions between 1977 and 1988.
