Biographical sketch
Toronto-born Jerry Gray studied dentistry at the University of Toronto and in 1953 founded the folk group The Travellers with Sidney Dolgay, Helen Gray, Jerry Goodis and Oscar Ross.  While practising dentistry in Toronto, Gray also pursued his musical career with The Travellers, performing in many countries, including Russia in 1962.  The group enjoyed great success with students and popular music fans in the 1960s with its LP of workers' songs, Century of Songs.  Jerry Gray also performed as a solo artist, opting for a Yiddish repertoire, partially as a tribute to his mother, who was a member of the Toronto Jewish Folk Choir.
