Joseph Joachim fonds.  - 1863-1869.  - 2 cm of textual records.  - 88 photographs.  - 1 tintype. 

Biographical sketch
Austro-Hungarian violinist and composer, Joseph Joachim gave numerous concerts in Europe and was familiar with a number of musicians such as Mendelssohn, Schumann, Liszt and Brahms.  In 1863 he married opera singer Amalie Weiss. 

Scope and content
The fonds contains records illustrating the musical career of Joseph Joachim:  two letters from Amalie Joachim; postcards (several autographed); photographs and tintype of members of his family and European musicians. 

Immediate source of acquisition:  acquired from Laura Chapman in 1980.
