Biographical sketch
A harmonica player and collector of folk recordings born in Rimouski, Quebec, Gabriel Labbé is the author of Les Pionniers du disque folklorique québécois 1920-1950 (L'Aurore, 1977). 

Scope and content
The fonds contains records pertaining to Gabriel Labbé's career in the folk music field.  It includes research files on musicians and folk groups consisting of correspondence, concert programmes, press clippings and photographs; the manuscript of Les Pionniers du disque folklorique québécois; and the text of a lecture on traditional musicians. 

Immediate source of acquisition:  acquired from Gabriel Labbé in 1993.
