Biographical sketch
An American businessman from Mount Vernon, New York, Love spent most of his free time on his property in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, where he worked as a composer. 

Scope and content
The fonds contains records pertaining to J.W. Love's activity as a composer:  biographical material; conductor's scores and copies of parts for the pieces entitled Spring Fantasy, Symphonic Variations on a Folk Tune and Variations on a Folk Tune; press clippings; recordings of compositions by Love. 

Immediate source of acquisition:  acquired from Dorothea Love, the composer's widow, in 1973.
