Welford Russell fonds.  - [ca. 1924]-[ca. 1962].  - 90 cm of textual records. 

Biographical sketch
Surgeon and composer born in Neepawa, Manitoba, he studied organ in Ireland and composition in Toronto.  Lyrical and conservative in style, his corpus consists of choral works and melodies (over 50, many published by BMI Canada and Waterloo). 

Scope and content
The fonds consists of records illustrating the musical career of Welford Russell:  personal diary; manuscripts of compositions, including Elisabethan Song Cycle; concert programmes; published books and scores (annotated). 

Immediate source of acquisition:  acquired from the composer's widow in 1978. 

Restrictions:  the personal diary is confidential.
