Bruno Walter fonds.  - 1893-1952.  - 1 cm of textual records.  - 20 photographs. 

Biographical sketch
Conductor born in Germany, Bruno Walter became a U.S. citizen in 1939.  In the course of his career, he conducted many orchestras in Europe and the United States. 

Scope and content
The fonds contains records pertaining to the life and musical activities of Bruno Walter:  14 letters signed B. Walter, sent to his family; four letters signed Bruno Kittel; concert programmes; press clippings; photographs of Bruno Walter, Leo Schlesinger and his friends. 

Immediate source of acquisition:  acquired from Irene Ben-Tchavtchavadze in 1986.  Irene Ben-Tchavtchavadze had obtained them herself from Leo Brückner (Czechoslovakia), whose sister, Ms. Küchler, lived in Sweden with B. Walter's brother, Leo Schlesinger, after World War II.
