|
Option
Use the general material designation "microform".
Option
The option is applied occasionally.
However, always apply the option in the following situation. For serials reproduced in microform, if the title of a serial changes within a microform item, make a separate description for each title. For the description of the extent in each of these descriptions, see rule interpretation 11.5B3. Link the separate descriptions with a note as instructed in 12.7B8.
Option
The option is not applied. Any edition information supplied by the cataloguer is given in the notes area.
Option
Give parallel edition statements in accordance with the provisions established under "Levels of Detail in Description".
Interpretation
For serials reproduced in microform, give the numbering of the first issue of the original. This designation may or may not represent the designation of the first available issue of the microreproduction.
Option
The option is applied occasionally.
Interpretation
Add the name and place of the distributor when the information is necessary for clarification and is readily ascertainable. Liberal use of the option is discouraged and no strict uniformity is expected.
A source note is preferred if the distributor is Canadian.

Option
The option is not applied.
Interpretation
Apply this rule, whenever possible, to express the fractional extent of a serial reproduced in microform which changes its title within a microform item.
In giving the dimensions of an item requiring more than one measurement, use a lower-case "x" as the multiplication sign to separate each of the measurements.
Examples
For examples of notes used by Library and Archives Canada, see "Descriptive cataloguing notes".
Option
The option is not applied.
Reasoning
The title romanized appears as the title proper in LAC records.
Indicate in a note that the title proper has been romanized.
Interpretation
Give a note on other formats available only when other formats are known to exist at the time of cataloguing (see 1.5A3).
Option
The option is generally not applied.
The option, however, will be applied (i.e., include the price) to preliminary CIP items. Do not update (i.e., neither delete nor change) this information upon receipt of the item.
Option (under 1.8E)
The option is applied only as a qualification to the standard number whenever applicable. Terms of availability are generally not used (see rule interpretation 11.8D).
When required, use a brief qualification (see 1.8E1) and note that consistency of terminology is not necessary. Do not make up and use qualifiers additional to that found in the transcribed data.
