Preamble:
The Group discussed 4 models that underpin the search and retrieval of holdings information. The discussion, however, focused on the following model:
- Holdings and bibliographic information are in separate databases but a previous query has returned information so the user knows that holdings exist.
- A second query, using a local control number, would be sent to retrieve the holdings information.
Amendment:
5.B Functional Area B: Bibliographic Holdings Search and Retrieval
Change the OID of the Holdings Schema to 1.2.840.10003.13.7.1
Remove the OID for Generic Record Syntax
5.B.1 Functional Area B: Level 1 Bibliographic Holdings Search and Retrieval
Remove the requirement for GRS-1 and add a requirement for XML.
5.B.2 Functional Area B: Level 2 Bibliographic Holdings Search and Retrieval
Level 2 conformance inherits all Level 1 specifications, and requires support of two additional Element Set Names:
- C1: Minimal copy level holdings (i.e., copies only)
- C2: Summary copy level holdings (i.e., summary holdings per copy)
5.B.3 Functional Area B: Level 3 Bibliographic Holdings Search and Retrieval
Level 3 conformance inherits all Level 2 specifications and requires support for four additional Element Set Names:
- B3: Detailed bibliographic level holdings (i.e., detailed information about parts held per location, without details of arrangement into physical pieces)
- B4: Extended bibliographic level holdings (i.e., detailed information about parts held per location, including details of arrangement into physical pieces with circulation information for each piece)
- C3: Detailed copy level holdings (i.e., detailed holdings per copy, down to the piece level)
- C4: Extended copy level holdings (i.e., detailed holdings at the piece level with circulation information)
