Crowfoot Addressing the Marquis of Lorne: Pow-wow at Blackfoot Crossing, on September 10, 1881 (Sydney Prior Hall, 1842-1922)

Hall accompanied the Marquis of Lorne (Governor-General of Canada from 1878-1883) on a tour of the North West Territories in 1881. This is a pastel sketch for a finished oil, originally in the possession of the Duke of Argyll. The pastel was based upon an on-the-spot pencil sketch the artist did in 1881 which is now also part of Library and Archives Canada's collection (C-11068).
