Moving Here, Staying Here: The Canadian Immigrant Experience

The Educational Resource section of this website on immigration offers two detailed critical thinking lesson plans on immigration, plus lesson plans and activities exploring genealogy in Canada.

Images Canada

This is a useful source of historical images for student research with 11 images for the keywords "Chinese Canadian" and 219 for the keyword "Chinese".

Chinese Immigrants Database

Library and Archives Canada holds the General Registers of Chinese Immigration, a list of all immigrants of Chinese origin arriving in Canada between 1885 and 1949. The registers include such information as age, certificate number, place of birth, occupation, date and port of arrival in Canada and head tax paid. The registers have been digitized and are available online by using the "Search" function in the box at the top left of the screen.

Chinese-Canadian Genealogy (in English and Chinese)

A partnership between Library and Archives Canada and the Vancouver Public Library, this site provides research tools and information on Chinese Canadian pioneers and genealogy.
