History
Current catalogues have been acquired and retained from the time the Rare Book Library was first set up in 1956. Nineteenth and early twentieth century material was acquired as a collection in 1970. Another large collection of catalogues was acquired in 1987 as a gift.

Description
The collection is a rapidly expanding collection of Canadian antiquarian booksellers, catalogues and book auction records from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. Canadian booksellers and firms represented include Amtmann, Albert Britnell, Christie's (Canada), Dora Hood, Fraser Bros., P. Gagnon, Ducharme, Deschênes, Montreal Book Auction, Octave Lemieux, Sotheby Parke Bernet (Canada), Toronto Antiquarian Book Company, and all the currently active Canadian booksellers who issue catalogues. The collection is being actively built by gift, subscription, and purchase.

Holdings
Approximately 800 serial titles.

Bibliographic Access
The earlier catalogues have been catalogued. Currently received catalogues are recorded in a special card file under the name of the bookseller.
