The principal donor was Mrs. J. Robert Charette. The collection was developed initially in 1975 by Mrs. Irene Hewitt from bibliographies and publishers' catalogues.

Description
The collection is noted for its holdings on Montessori and her teaching method, from 1963 to the present. Subject strengths are education (primary, elementary, and secondary), the education of exceptional children, school management and organization, and educational curricula and counselling.
