The collection was purchased in 1962 from the estate of the late A.M. Donaldson, a local Burns collector, and presented to the University of British Columbia Library by the Friends of the Library.
Description
The collection includes many different editions of Burns' works, critical and biographical materials, Scottish song books, works by other Scottish writers, and works about favourite "haunts" of Burns. The chronological emphasis is the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. However, the collection also includes current new items. Significant new editions, critical works, and ephemera are currently collected. Reprints or new editions without considerable new editorial work are not collected. The collection is not being developed extensively at present.

Bibliographic Access
The collection is catalogued on cards and on line. LC subject headings and classification are used. The holdings are recorded in the National Library Union Catalogue and the National Union Catalog (NUC). Special bibliographies include Egerer's Bibliography of Burns (1964).
