The collection has been built up from books received on legal deposit by the National Library of Canada.
Description
The collection contains Canadian artists' books, and illustrated editions of Canadian literature. Before 1960 there were few livres d'artistes. The chronological emphasis of the collection is, therefore, from 1960 to the present. Only Canadian publications are included.

The collection is catalogued on AMICUS. NLC subject headings are used. LC classification is used. Bibliographies annotated to reflect National Library holdings (600 of the 721 titles listed): Claudette Hould's Répertoire des livres d'artistes au Québec, 1900-1980 (Montréal: Bibliothèque nationale du Québec,1982) and Répertoire des livres d'artistes au Québec, 1981-1990 (Montréal: Bibliothèque nationale du Québec,1993).
