E.J. Pratt Collection Victoria University, E.J. Pratt Library Subjects Pratt, Edwin John; Canadian poetry History The collection was established in 1946 when it was purchased from Professor E.J. Pratt. Additional materials were acquired from Mrs. Viola Whitney Pratt in 1967 and from Miss Claire Pratt's estate in 1995. Description The collection includes every edition of E.J. Pratt's published works; secondary biographical and critical sources; and his private library. Also included are Pratt's first privately published poem, Rachel; presentation copies; annotated copies; and variant bindings and issues. Reference works, critical monographs, and journals to support the collection are located in the open stacks. The library attempts to acquire all material by E.J. Pratt. Language English. Holdings 235 monographs; 59 audiotapes; 121 photographs; extensive manuscript material; 52 pamphlets (includes broadsides); 4 artworks by Claire Pratt; 1 art work by Eric Arthur. Bibliographic Access The collection is catalogued. There is also a separate local shelf list. Uncatalogued material is accessed alphabetically by author. LC subject headings and classification are used. The holdings are recorded in the University of Toronto Union Catalogue online and the National Library Union Catalogue.
