The collection was established in 1968. It began with a block purchase from a bookseller and has been developed since.
Description
The collection is an extensive collection of works by and about H.G. Wells. Included are many rare items, bibliographical variants, and manuscript material. The chronological emphasis is from ca 1890 to the present. Books by and about Wells are acquired when available. All translations of Wells' books are sought.
Language
English predominates. Selected foreign language material is also included.
Holdings
700 monographs; approximately 40 letters and manuscripts.

The collection is catalogued in the general library catalogues. LC subject headings and classification are used. The holdings are recorded in OCLC.
