History
The original core of the collection was presented in 1959 to Victoria University by Mrs. Mary Rowell Jackman. Mrs. Jackman continued to donate items and to support the collection. The collection is developed further by other donations, purchases, and transfers.
Description
The collection is a comprehensive collection of work centred upon Virginia and Leonard Woolf and members of the Bloomsbury Group including Clive Bell, Vanessa Stephen Bell, E.M. Forster, Roger Fry, and many others. The collection also includes Hogarth Press imprints from 1917 to 1946 (including thirty-three of thirty-four handprinted books of the Hogarth Press); works written or illustrated by members of the Bloomsbury Group; biographies of the Group; broadsides; exhibition catalogues; and posters. Also included are all editions of Virginia and Leonard Woolf's literary works; foreign translations of Virginia Woolf; and microforms of primary source material relating to Virginia Woolf. Reference works, critical monographs, and journals to support the collection are located in the open stacks. The collection is being developed further.

The collection is catalogued. There is a separate local shelf list. LC subject headings and classification are used. Special bibliographies, annotated to reflect the library's holdings, include J. Howard Woolmer's A checklist of the Hogarth Press, 1917-1946 (Revere, Pa.: Woolmer/Brotherson,1986), and Donna E. Rhein's The handprinted books of Leonard and Virginia Woolf at the Hogarth Press, 1917-1932 (Ann Arbor, Mich.: UMI Research Press, c1985). The holdings are recorded in the National Library Union Catalogue, and the University of Toronto Union Catalogue and online.
