Description The collection consists of the writings of Charles Darwin and others (T. H. Huxley, Richard Owen, Ernst Haeckel, etc.) who were important in the development of evolutionary theory. Virtually all editions and issues of Darwin's work, illustrating textual changes made by him, are present. The chronological emphasis is from 1859 to the present. Language English predominates. Editions of Darwin's work in other European languages are also included. Holdings Approximatively 1 000 volumes. Bibliographic Access About one half of the collection is catalogued. Uncatalogued material is accessible through the "In-Process" file. Bibliographies include R. B. Freeman's The works of Charles Darwin: an annotated bibliographical handlist (Folkestone, England: Dawson, 1977). This bibliography has been annotated to indicate the Fisher Library holdings.
