Gregor Malantschuk Soren Kierkegaard Collection|
McGill University, Rare Books and Special Collections Library
Kierkegaard, Søren; Philosophy, Danish
The collection was formed by Professor Gregor Malantschuk, a Kierkegaard scholar living and working in Denmark. The collection was purchased in 1980, and has been maintained as a unit.
The collection includes an almost complete set of first editions of Søren Kierkegaard's works and a reconstruction of his private library. There is a copy of the sale catalogue of his library. As well, there is a collection of books in contemporary editions that Kierkegaard is assumed to have read, although they were not in his library; and a collection of books by his contemporaries that he might have read. There are also modern critical works on Kierkegaard.
Danish, German, English, French, Spanish, Greek, and Latin.
The collection is catalogued in a printed catalogue. LC subject headings are used. The material is classified according to a local classification scheme. The holdings are recorded in MUSE (McGill Libaries Online Catalogue).
The collection is open to the public upon registration with the Department and the presentation of a suitable piece of identification. For further information visit: http://www.library.mcgill.ca/rarebook/cube.htm.
