It was acquired through purchase and donation largely from the collection of the noted Galileo scholar, Stillman Drake. Description The collection is one of the best collections outside of Florence on the works of Galileo and his contemporaries in the physical and astronomical sciences. Works of Ptolemy and Copernicus are included. Earliest editions of Galileo's works, including the 1632 Dialogo and the 1638 Discorsi, are among the items in the collection. Language Multilingual. Critical works are primarily English, French, German, and Italian. Holdings 630 volumes. Stillman Drake's personal collection of 10,000 volumes, on deposit at the library, is being incorporated gradually. Bibliographic Access The collection is catalogued.
