The first recorded gifts were made in 1934. The present separate collection had its beginnings in a box received in 1965. Since then, the collection has been developed by Dr. Gunn, a specialist in seventeenth and eighteenth century British political history. Regular operating funds, special funds, gifts, and grants have helped build the collection. Description The collection is a comprehensive collection on seventeenth, eighteenth, and early nineteenth century British politics and history in published pamphlet form. It includes material on the Civil War, the Standing Army Controversy, the struggles for reform in the 1780s and 1790s, and the Reform Bill of 1832. The collection includes scarce material. Seventeenth and eighteenth century British political pamphlets are acquired as they become available. Language English. Holdings 1,959 items. Supplementary material to support this collection will be found in the main stacks collection. Bibliographic Access Cataloguing is in process. A checklist of holdings is available. LC subject headings and classification are used. A catalogue describing the pamphlets in the collection printed between 1701 and 1714 has been published (see below).
