History
The collection was founded ca 1970 as a result of a grant from SSHRC. This aid supported the processing of an initial collection of 2,300 textbooks and the purchase of subsequent lots of material to which were added donations such as that received from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
Description
The collection contains various editions of almost all the textbooks from the primary level, and to a lesser degree those used in the public schools and teachers' training colleges. Books in this collection were published in Quebec prior to the educational reform of 1964.

Mostly French textbooks.

Access is by a special catalogue (see below). A COM catalogue and the A-G Canada Ltd system also indicate the collection holdings. LC classification is used.
Physical Access
