History
Established in 1969, the collection is a gift from Edgar and Dorothy Davidson and is expanded only by them.

Description
The collection includes early Canadiana with a particular focus on accounts of voyages of discovery and exploration (including the Jesuit relations), and on early Canadian history and literature. Seventeenth and eighteenth century imprints concerning New France are emphasized. Special holdings include original works by Champlain, Charlevoix, Denys, Diereville, Hennepin, Joutel, Lafitau, Lahontan, Lalemant, Lescarbot, Quen, and Vancouver. Supporting collections include the Winthrop Pickard Bell Collection of Acadiana, the general Canadiana Collection, and the Canadian Government Documents Collection.

English, French, and selected foreign language material.
