The Canadian section of the collection was acquired from Robert S. Kenny in 1977. The international section of the collection was donated by Kenny in 1993.
This extensive and diverse collection on radicalism, communism and socialism throughout the world includes books, broadsides, pamphlets and periodicals. The writings of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin are prominent in a variety of languages and editions. These are accompanied by an excellent supporting library of biographical and critical works. There is considerable ephemeral material. The collection consists of chiefly twentieth century works but includes some eighteenth and nineteenth-century pamphlets.
Chiefly English, but many items are in French, German, Chinese and Russian.
Approximately 25,000 items.
The Canadian section (382 books and 768 pamphlets) is being catalogued first.
