This collection was purchased through a donation from the Wosk family of Vancouver and from the Vancouver businessman, Hugh McDonald, in 1995.
Description
The collection includes original editions of the Aldine Press, published in Venice and Rome, starting in 1501 and ending in 1580. The collection is strong for the period 1501 to 1515 (Aldus Manutius, the elder, died in 1515). Also included are bibliographies, auction catalogues, booksellers' catalogues, and scholarly works on the subject. Sixteen of the volumes have modern reproduction bindings from Renaissance models and five are in original bindings.

Works in Greek, Latin, Italian, German and English are present.

Publications Describing Collection
An exhibition catalogue Aldus Plus Manutius: Publisher of Renaissance Venice, 1955, provides a partial description of some of the items in the collection. A second publication Festina Lente will be published in October 1996.
