The collection was established in 1956.
Description
The collection is a large and growing collection of British, American, and European book dealers, and auction catalogues. It includes substantial runs of the catalogues of the premier firms from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. The collection is expanded regularly through gift, subscription, and purchase. English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, and the Scandinavian languages.
Holdings
Approximately 100,000 items.
Bibliographic Access
The bulk of the collection is uncatalogued. The holdings are recorded in a special card file. Catalogues from the early nineteenth century and previous centuries are separately catalogued as monographs, as are catalogues listing the contents of libraries of famous collectors.
