History
The collection was established in 1969. A collection of manuscript material held by Bertram Rota Ltd. was purchased. An agreement between the three universities in British Columbia had committed the University of Victoria to the establishment of research collections of modern British literature.
Description
The collection contains various editions, pamphlets, periodical contributions, and manuscripts. The scope of the collection is to be inclusive. The chronological and geographic emphasis is on twentieth century England. Current acquisitions have been curtailed due to the lack of funds. Robert Graves' personal collection of papers and books may yet be offered to the university because of a "first refusal" agreement that exists with Mrs. Graves.

English predominates. There is also material in German, Italian, Greek, and Spanish.
