The collection was established ca 1970.
Description
Material on Canadian poetry, published from 1940 to the present, is collected comprehensively. Many rare items are included. All new poetry items published in Canada, or written by Canadian poets elsewhere, are collected. Gaps in the collection are also filled through purchases from antiquarian booksellers.

7,500 monographs; 250 serials; 50 serials currently received; 50 audiotapes; personal papers of several poets; literary press material; posters, broadsides, and ephemera.
Bibliographic Access
The collection is catalogued in the library's online catalogue. A separate catalogue (outdated) is also contained within an issue of Library research news (see below). LC subject headings and classification are used. The holdings are recorded in OCLC. Special bibliographies include an annotated copy of R.E. Watters' A Checklist of Canadian Literature and Background Materials 1628-1960 (2nd. edition, rev. and enl.).
