Hannah Collection University of Toronto, Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library Subjects Medicine--History; Dentistry--History History The collection was established in 1974, with the support of the Hannah Institute's founder, the late Dr. Jason A. Hannah. In 1981,the Faculty of Dentistry donated its history of dentistry collection. Description The collection consists of works on medicine and surgery, and the related sciences, anatomy, physiology, etc., for the period from 1500 to 1900. The collection is especially strong in gynaecology and obstetrics. Some one hundred works by Freud (criticisms excluded) are also present. Rare items include early sixteenth century editions of Hippocrates and Galen, and first editions of the works of Freud and Jung. Future plans are to continue to acquire first editions and translations. Language Multilingual. Holdings 10,000 volumes. Bibliographic Access The collection is catalogued.
