The collection continues to be built up from items received on legal deposit and through the purchase of retrospective issues. The aim is to be comprehensive. Many items have also been reproduced in microform.
Description
The most complete collection of Canadian city directories in the country. Directories cover provinces, regions, districts, cities, towns, and villages from the nineteenth century to the present day. Many early directories provide a wealth of historical information on the area covered. Ethnic, religious, professional, and telephone directories are not included in this collection.
Language
Primarily English and French material.
Holdings
Over 1200 titles; approximately 7000 volumes.
Bibliographic Access
The collection is catalogued using LC and NLC "History of Canada" classifications. LC, NLC and Laval subject headings are used. The entire collection's holdings are recorded on AMICUS.
Physical Access
