Presented to the Library in 1996 by William A.S. Sarjeant, Professor of Geology (University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon), bibliographer, historian, musicologist, and novelist.
Description
Phase I includes general history and philosophy of science, cosmography and astronomy, geology and geophysics, biology, evolution, evolutionary controversy, pseudo-geological science; and the publications and biographies, letters, diaries, etc., of the great naturalists and pioneer geologists. The serials include numerous scarce 18th and 19th-century natural history journals, as well as current, ongoing titles. N.B. - Phase I will be augmented by subsequent deposits covering scientific institutes and societies, vertebrate and invertebrate paleontology, and more works by and about the great naturalists and earth scientists.
