Wordsworth, William, 1770-1850; English poetry--19th century; Poets, English--19th century; Lake District (England)
In 1973, the dean of arts at Simon Fraser University provided Professor Jared Curtis the funds to buy a collection of works by and about William Wordsworth. The collection, some 220 titles, included the 2nd printing of the Lyrical ballads (1798), Lyrical ballads (2v., 1800), several lifetime editions of the poetical works, as well as Victorian editions of Wordsworth and secondary works. Since then, the collection has grown largely through grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
This collection includes first and authorized lifetime editions of Wordsworth. A substantial secondary collection of post-1850 annotated editions, contemporary bio-critical accounts and background materials of travel and historical works on the Lake District provides a flavour of Wordsworth the man, his circle and his times.
700 volumes consisting of 500 monograph titles and 10 serials.
