Dr. A. C. Rutherford's collection was comprised originally of materials on the history of Canada; regional history (Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, and particularly Alberta and the Prairie Provinces); travel books; voyages and exploration. It also contained a miscellaneous collection of Canadian literature. Dr. Rutherford donated his collection in 1951. Subsequent acquisitions have strengthened the Western Canadian focus of Rutherford's collection.
Description
The collection contains first editions, pamphlets, and ephemera on prairie history and travel (Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba). Immigration literature is also included. The chronological emphasis is from the 17th century to the 19th century. Prairie Canadian monographs and ephemera are presently collected.

English, French, and selected foreign language material.
