The collection was established in 1973. It was bought as a large collection. Some additions have since been made.
Description
The collection is a large and diverse collection on all aspects of World War I. It includes material on official and regimental histories, historical and political studies, practical warfare, personal reminiscences, training manuals, government documents, creative works, and contemporary serials. Unique items include extensive archival material and uncommon ephemera (posters,etc.). The chronological emphasis is on the period between 1910 and 1930 with a few documents relating to later years. The geographic emphasis is on Europe and North America. Items are added to the collection as they are made available from booksellers.
Language
English, French, and selected foreign language material. English language material is currently emphasized in collection development.
Holdings
5,000 monographs; 200 serials; several hundred photographs; 9 linear metres of manuscripts; 250 posters; 200 maps; government documents and pamphlets.

The collection is catalogued in the library's online catalogue and in OCLC. LC subject headings and classification are used.
