The nucleus of this collection is Theodore Besterman's Samuel Beckett Collection acquired in 1969.
The collection is a large collection of material by and about Beckett. Almost every edition and translation is included, as well as most rare items. The chronological emphasis is from ca 1925 to the present. New works, including translations and commentaries, are acquired from antiquarian and other booksellers.
English, French, and selected foreign language material.
800 monographs; 100 serials; 3 serials currently received; a small manuscript collection.
The collection is catalogued in the library's online catalogue. LC subject headings and classification are used. The holdings are recorded in OCLC. Special bibliographies include an annotated copy of Federman and Fletcher's Samuel Beckett: his works and his critics: an essay in bibliography (Berkeley : University of California Press, 1970).
