The records at the Archives of Ontario date back to 1729 and reflect all aspects of public and private life in Ontario. Holdings include government and private sector records, genealogical records, vital statistics, records relating to Aboriginal Peoples, photographs, cartographic records, architectural records, documentary art and sound and moving images. The Web site is bilingual. There is a genealogical research guide which explains how to get started, how to prepare for your visit, and describes the major genealogical sources at the archives. There is also a guide for vital statistics records and for the wills and estate files. There is an online index to the Second Heir and Devisee Commission Case Files. Several information handouts are available in html and PDF format. Inquiries can be sent by e-mail, fax or telephone. Microfilms are available through inter-institutional loan.
