Description:
The Public Archives and Records Office of Prince Edward Island (PARO) acquires, preserves, and makes available for public research the records of the provincial government and private-sector papers and records deemed to be of lasting historical value. The holdings consist of textual records, photographs, maps, architectural drawings, film, videotape, and sound recordings. The archives houses a large collection of genealogical materials comprised of primary source documents and complementary finding aids and indexes. The Web site is uni-lingual English. It briefly describes the extent and content of the major genealogical sources. It also has a research guide for tracing your family tree in Prince Edward Island and referrals to other island institutions. Inquiries can be sent by e-mail, fax or telephone. The archives does not participate in any interlibrary loan service.
