Description:
The Provincial Archives of Newfoundland and Labrador (PANL) preserves those records of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and from private sources which are deemed to have enduring legal, fiscal, evidential, historical or research value. The holdings consist of government records, private papers, still and moving images, cartographic records and a reference library. PANL holds an extensive collection of copies of baptism, marriage and burial records from parishes throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Staff will conduct a search from the pre-1892 records for a fee. The Web site is uni-lingual English. There is a vital statistics finding aid by community and by parish records. There are no nominal indexes online. There is a brief description of other genealogical records. There are click-able images throughout the site. Inquiries can be sent through mail, fax or e-mail.
