| Description: | In 1922, Robert Flaherty recalls his 1919 experience with the Inuit in Inukjuak when he was there to film them in their everyday life. At that time, he met Nanook, one of the community’s best hunters, with whom he went hunting. He also met Nyla, an Inuit woman with whom he had a son. Flaherty finished his documentary in 1922 and entitled it “Nanook of the North” in homage to his friend who had starved to death the previous season as the result of a disastrous hunting season. |
