Catching Eels

Eels can be trapped live using hoop nets. The name comes from the hoop used to frame the net. The hoops are set in rivers, trapping the eels as they move upstream.

Eels are also speared. The best way to fish for eels in the winter is by spearing them through a hole in the ice.
