While the area that is shown in the map is referred to (in this site)
as the Annapolis Valley, the area actually encompasses more than just
the valley proper. The actually valley is situated along the Annapolis
River between the North and South
Mountain Ranges, the area pictured in the map also includes
the rugged coastal region and as one travels inland and passes over
the South Mountain Range an area dominated by mixed forests. The area
also boasts an impressive number of rivers
and lakes, which are home to a variety of turtles
and frogs. The occurrence of a river valley situated
between two mountain ranges and in close proximity to the coast gives
the area what could be termed as micro climates
which will result in seasonal differences in areas closely located
to one another.
