   October 2001Cover: The cover shows the mechanism of spinal trauma in adolescents resulting from seat-belt injury in motor vehicle accidents. Flexion-distraction injuries to the spine secondary to high-riding lap belts are more common in the thinner adolescent than in the adult because the fulcrum for the flexion moment is closer to the spinal column. (see article on page 337).

Interactive surgery symposium
