Physicians must now report unfit railway workers

Changes to the Railway Safety Act covering examinations of personnel with "safety-critical" positions dictate that physicians and optometrists must now inform workers — and their employer — if they are found to have developed a medical condition that may "reasonably pose a threat to railway safety." The act also requires employees to inform their physician or optometrist if they hold a safety-critical position prior to any examination.
